I am excited to announce our new addition–the Coachmen Freedom Express camper! It is the 2017 192RBS model and you can see a floor plan below.
We have talked about purchasing a camper for years, visiting RV shows and dreaming of that large mini home on wheels. We finally bought one though smaller than our dream camper as it is only a twenty two foot long travel trailer. Gives us room to grow if we decide that adventuring in a camper is a must. We just picked up the camper last Saturday after waiting five long weeks while it was on order.
It is the perfect size camper for a couple (and furkids) though it technically sleeps three with the couch/futon. It has a full size queen bed versus the shorter common camper version. The mattress is not super thick so purchased a Tempurpedic topper to help with comfortable sleeping. There is a full bathroom with an actual shower (versus tub model) and it even has a mini medicine cabinet.
It features a full kitchen with a mini microwave (it will allow us to make popcorn for a rainy movie night), oven, sink and a decent size refrigerator and freezer. A neat thing about the fridge is has the option to use propane gas. Therefore you can plug into electricity at the house a couple days prior to planned trips to cool down the refrigerator, load food before leaving home and then the propane will continue to keep the refrigerator temp cool while driving to the campsite. The camper also creates more room with a slide in the living area. There is a small TV and radio that includes indoor and outdoor speakers. It even includes a fourteen foot awning and small Coleman grill for enjoying the outdoor space.
We are also purchasing a new truck which will allow us to easily pull the camper. We had originally planned to use a small SUV to pull it, however with more research completed–we decided a truck was the way to go. Unfortunately, the delay in the decision causes the truck to still be on order and not available for a few more weeks. I have never thought of myself as a “truck person” but am excited for that to hopefully change.
A camper will make adventuring around Michigan easier as it will allow us to travel further in the state and bring the dogs. Gucci was immediately excited when entering the camper. It is like she knows that the camper means trips where she is included. Tucker appears a little unsure about this new addition but he is happy to snuggle on the couch so know it is just a matter of time and he will also be excited to enter the camper. I am eager to bring new events to you and our first trip is already planned to visit Pentwater in June. More to come!
