Saturday, August 22nd, was the 10th anniversary celebration for Burgdorf’s Winery located in Haslett. Despite this winery’s local address, my husband and I had yet to visit, making this event the perfect excuse to do so.
Burgdorf’s features a unique gift shop and tasting room on their five acre estate. The anniversary event displayed outdoor tents on the grounds showcasing the tasting of assorted meats, cheese & crackers and of course, wine. There were even wine slushies which I have to admit was the perfect drink on a hot summer day like this one.
A live band performed for a portion of the event and the weather was beautiful. We found a new wine, Michigan Blackberry Wine, and took a bottle home along with the Sangria mix to make slushies. Now we just need the weather to give us another hot summer day so we can enjoy!
Burgdorf’s Winery is open daily and you can taste five wines for $5 or ten for $10. You can also choose to add locally made cheese and crackers to your wine tasting adventure for additional $10. The cheese comes from Tirrel Farms in Charlotte. They specialize in Artisan Sheep Cheese and Grassfields from Coopersville, MI featuring organic farmstead-made aged cheese. There was a sampling of these fine cheeses during the event which were delicious.
Now that I have experienced this winery, I will definitely plan a return visit with family and friends. This is also a great place to pick up a unique gift if you are in the area.
